Mr. Mark Kailiponi, Principal

Mr. Mark Kailiponi, known to many students simply as Mr. K, is proud to serve as Principal of La Vista and La Sierra High Schools. He has spent nearly three decades in education as a teacher, department chair, assistant principal, and principal. Mr. Kailiponi's mission as an educator has always been about students. He believes that every student has unlimited potential, and that one caring adult who believes in them and refuses to give up on them can make the difference between success and failure.

That belief guides the way Mr. K leads La Vista and La Sierra. The whole staff at La Vista/La Sierra High Schools will do whatever it takes to help a student succeed. He wants students to know that when they walk onto campus, they have people in their corner who care about them as individuals. Success may mean earning a diploma, transferring back to a home school, going to college, learning a trade, beginning a career, or simply taking the next positive step forward. Whatever the goal, Mr. K believes our job is to listen, build relationships, remove barriers, create opportunities, and help students achieve academic success.

More than anything, Mr. K wants La Vista and La Sierra to be schools where students know they belong and where adults never quit on them. His greatest satisfaction comes from watching a young person who may have struggled in the past discover confidence, find a purpose, reach a goal, and realize, “I can do this.” That is why his commitment to the students, families, and staff of La Vista and La Sierra is simple: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes.
